5 Useful Tips For Surviving Covid-19

Early in my medical training, I learned that it is better to know a lot about a little than a little about a lot. Applying this to today’s world — knowing that wearing a mask, avoiding large gatherings, maintaining social distancing, and frequent hand washing can decrease the odds of contracting Coronavirus is a lot about a few simple facts.

The metrics of Covid-19 in Virology 101 do not address the respect and regard for the science. That is better left to our consciences. For most, struggling through this pandemic — the fight or flight for survival has been an enormous challenge, the relentless self-inflicting behaviors that many have engaged in — that’s been horrifying.

I haven’t suffered Covid-19 fatigue — it hasn’t extorted the best of me. Nonetheless, Covid-19 frustration and anger have been regular invites in my life. However, I’m not alone in having a fuse ignited by a total disregard and lack of empathy for guidelines, restrictions, and safe health measures. Inherent in our DNA lie confusion and despair. Darwin’s Theory of Evolution — Survival of the Fittest describes our ability to persevere. Pope John Paul the Second sermonized about our weakness being part of the human element.
